Advocacy of organic hydroponics
We’ve had a lot of growers become interested in the topic of organic hydroponics and become concerned with the changing tides of organic certification. In this course, we’ll discuss the organic industry and markets, and the debate of hydroponics organics. We’ll look at the answers that policy makers have created to the containerized organic agriculture question and how that affects real farmer.
On May 19, 2016, we held a live webinar with Lee Frankel, Executive Director of the Coalition for Sustainable Organics, and member, Karen Archipley of Archi’s Acres Hydro-Organic Farm after meeting them at the 4th Annual Indoor Ag-Con. When we learned of the Coalition, we knew that these guys were a beacon of hope for all those in the organic hydroponics industry, and for that reason, we’re bringing that webinar recording to you as an official Upstart University course!
This course is designed for those farmers that want to add value to their produce, use less artificial chemical agents around the farm, or differentiate themselves from their non-organic competitors.
In this course:
- The current state of organic hydroponics
- The history of certification
- Preliminary reports on organic hydroponic certification
- Core advocacy messages
- How to advocate for and defend organic hydroponics
This course is taught by Lee Frankel, Executive Director of the Coalition for Sustainable Organics, and member, Karen Archipley of Archi’s Acres Hydro-Organic Farm. The Coalition for Sustainable Organics believes that everyone deserves organics and that organic certification shouldn’t keep organic quality product from the market.
